Two young women have died after falling into a check dam in Jetpur’s large Gundala village. The villagers rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of the two. Police later shifted the bodies of the two to the hospital for PM. During the police investigation, both the girls were on their way to a natural toilet when one of the girls accidentally fell into the check dam and the other jumped into the check dam to save her. But both died from drowning.
The family members informed the sarpanch
According to the information received, Sonal Sureshbhai Chekhalia (age 18) and Gopi Niravbhai Khavdiya (age 15) went to the natural side of the check dam of Mota Gundala. But for some reason one drowned in a checkdam and the other drowned while trying to save another. The family members were informed about this by Vipulbhai Dhobaria, Sarpanch of Mota Gundala village.
The villagers removed the bodies of the two by boat
Village leaders Bhagwanjibhai Polta, Rameshbhai Kotdia, Deepak Bacharolia, Jatan Hirpara, Kanji Shingal and others took a boat and removed their bodies from the check dam and shifted them to Dhoraji Government Hospital.
On learning of the incident, Dharmendra Babaria of Human Services rushed to the hospital along with Bholabhai Solanki. Police have registered a case of accidental death and are conducting further investigations.
