Breaking News: Night curfew may be extended till December 31 in four major cities including Ahmedabad, decision may be taken in high level meeting tomorrow
The corona erupted shortly after the Diwali festivities in the state. Following which a 48-hour curfew was imposed in Ahmedabad city. However, curfew was declared in four major cities – Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara – from 9 pm to 6 am. December 7 is the last day of the night curfew.
However, despite a 15-day night curfew, Corona’s cases in the state have not been brought under control and about 1,500 cases are being registered daily. Not only that, the situation is still critical in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara. While in Ahmedabad city 10-12 deaths are happening. In fact, there are lines for burial in cemeteries.
The Christmas festivities are also coming up on December 25th. If this situation continues, the situation is likely to worsen. The curfew is likely to be extended till December 31, according to state Home Department sources in a conversation with DivyaBhaskar.
High-level meeting of the Home Department tomorrow
A high-level meeting of the Home Department will be held on December 7 on the growing cases of Corona. The meeting may decide to extend the night curfew.
A night curfew was imposed in 4 cities on November 23 when Corona became uncontrollable
On November 23, a curfew was imposed in Ahmedabad and a night curfew was imposed in three other cities – Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot. As a precautionary measure, a 57-hour curfew was imposed in Ahmedabad, especially during the Saturday-Sunday holidays, to keep the crowds out of control. As Gujarat’s businesses are slowly recovering, curfews or lockdowns could again hurt traders.
